Welcome to Meli Poppins Childminding – A nurturing, child-led home from home childcare setting where every child is encouraged to thrive and grow at their own pace. 

We are passionate about providing a safe, loving environment where children feel valued, supported, and inspired to explore the world around them.

At Meli Poppins Childminding, we believe that each child is unique, and we focus on creating a space where their individual needs, interests, and abilities are celebrated.

 Our approach is rooted in the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), ensuring that children have the best possible start in their learning journey.

Our childminding setting is designed to feel like a home away from home, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere where children can relax, play, and learn. We provide a balance of structured activities and free play, allowing children the freedom to explore their creativity, build confidence, and develop essential skills that will serve them for years to come.

 We pride ourselves on being a place where children are listened to, respected, and encouraged to make their own choices. Our dedicated team of childcare educators work closely with each child, nurturing their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. We believe that through positive relationships, meaningful play, and rich learning experiences, children will flourish. We are proud this was recognised by Ofsted during our inspection, where we were graded OUTSTANDING. 

At Meli Poppins, we provide a nurturing and enriching environment where children feel at home while growing, learning, and exploring. As a larger childminding setting with up to 12 children per day and up to 4 staff per day, we combine the best aspects of a small, intimate childminding experience with the benefits of a nursery. This allows us to offer the personal touch and tailored care of a small setting while providing the structure and diversity of experiences that a larger group can offer.

We take great pride in carefully planning our curriculum around the developmental stages, needs, and interests of each child. Every day, we create a balance of small group learning, individual attention, and whole-group activities such as our weekly music classes with our fantastic piano teacher.

Our beautiful Meli Poppins setting is designed to feel like a home away from home. With a homely indoor space and a spacious, engaging outdoor classroom and garden, children have the freedom to explore nature, learn through play, and enjoy hands-on experiences. 

We encourage healthy eating by providing cooked lunches and dinners served family-style, where we all sit down together, enjoy our meal, and share stories about our day. 

For snacks, each child brings in a piece of fruit, which they prepare themselves by cutting with toddler-friendly knives to create a delicious fruit salad that they then enjoy as a group.

In addition to our Montessori-inspired learning through play, we offer a range of classes and outings, ensuring that children have rich, varied opportunities to learn and grow. We also cultivate our own seasonal vegetables, giving children the chance to participate in the joys of gardening and sustainable living.
